Mosaic Review Product this month is the Badin & Marsee Waterproof Bible!
What do you mean..A waterproof Bible? I had never heard of such a thing, but could immediately think of several that I would buy one for and how much it would help them in their work.
So, why would anyone need a waterproof Bible? I can easily see how missionaries or others that spend a great deal of time outside could benefit from one. How about Moms that like to carry one in the diaper bag? What if I want to take it on the beach to study? I don’t take my study bible outside to the pool or to the beach because…well.. I don’t want it to get wet or destroyed. However, having one that I can pull out around water could be a great tool for those moments when Christ comes up while visiting with someone at the park, pool or even at dinner.
Here are some things that I like about this Bible:
It’s Waterproof
My first thought why a Waterproof Bible might be handy is clearly in the name: waterproof. Would spills bead up like rainwater? Homeschool Class Experiment:
Wow! Simply wipe the water off with a paper towel and it’s good to go. The pages do not warp or become crinkly. The Bible looks as if the spill never happened. We left the bible outside in the swing on the porch for a weekend. No damage noted! The spiral notebook that was left with it suffered the usual exposure damage.
Just think of all the other times the Word of God would come in handy: – a rainy camping trip, a neighborhood pool party, at the beach, or even at a restaurant with a cup of coffee. I can’t tell you how many times I have spilled my coffee on my books!
It’s Sturdy
The first thing I noticed was the pages were not the usual thin onionskin paper. They are made from a 100% synthetic material that feels like a waxed fabric. The pages are sturdy. I tried to gently (it is a Bible) the pages but they held up.
Being sturdy means the reader can toss their Bible in a backpack/diaper bag or purse. Have you ever just stopped to wonder at the Glory of Creation? Just imagine being able to whip out your Bible and read the scriptures while praising God! How about for someone in the military, this would be a wonderful Bible for someone serving overseas.
That’s the main reason the Waterproof Bible was developed…so that it could be taken into all of God’s creation without worry about climate or conditions.
Able to Write in it
Because the pages are waxed, I wondered if they would accept writing or highlighting. Yes – You can write in it too! My regular dry highlighter worked great. Colored pencils, pens and markers all worked just as they do in a regular Bible – probably better because the ink did not bleed through to the other side like it does on the onionskin material.

This is so cool…I never heard of such a thing but it is so needed. Would make a great gift for the Missionaries at my church.
