National Geographic Kids Almanac 2016 {Book Review}
Do your kids love to read the National Geographic for Kids magazines? My kids did when they were younger and now my grandkids are really getting into them! In a few days, the National Geographic Kids Almanac 2016 is being released and it’s full of wonderful information and those awesome pictures we’ve come to love from National Geographic!
This New York Times bestseller is packed with incredible photos, tons of fun facts, crafts, activities, and fascinating articles about animals, science, nature, technology, and more. New features include a special section on animal friends; an updated “Fun and Games” chapter filled with all-new games, jokes, and comics; a new “Dino Myths Busted” feature; all new weird-but-true facts, crafts, and activities; a new special “15 Facts” feature in every chapter; updated reference material, and much more! And, this is the only kids’ almanac with mobile media features that allow kids to access National Geographic videos, photo galleries, and games.
I’ve had to hide my copy from the kids so I can send one with each of them for their summer vacations coming up. Whether they are going by plane or in the backseat of a car, this book is sure to provide hours of enjoyment and hopefully some conversations and interest into science, animals and the world around them.
It’s meant for kids between 8-12 years old, but even the younger ones enjoy it too! One of the kids likes to talk about the pictures we see (in previous editions) and I might read the fun fact or story that goes along with whatever has captured his attention. Or we might work it into his school work if he’s really become fascinated with something he comes across.
The almanac would be a terrific help for “back to school” preparation because each chapter has a section called “Homework Help”. It provides helpful tips and tricks to speaking in front of the class, writing reports, and even how to interpret maps and atlases!
Not only would these be great for long trips, but also if your kids go to summer camp, or if they are working on science or research projects over the summer, the National Geographic Kids Almanac 2016 would make a great addition to their bookshelf! You can pick up a copy at Amazon on May 12th, 2015.

Looks neat! We have the Nat Geo Money book, which is really interesting, and the Planes book that my son wandered off with before I got to take a look at it. 🙂
