We have several kids still living at home, not to mention the adult kids and grandchildren who visit daily, plus I work from home, run our homeschool, and more. My point is, my home doesn’t sit empty 10 hours a day while everyone is at work and school. So we had to find a way to help counter some of the electricity costs while still dealing with the fact that we are home more often than we aren’t.
Not only do we try to turn the lights off when we leave a room, change the heat and AC setting, etc., we are also trying LED bulbs in several lights through the house to see if they live up to the hype. One of my favorite features is the bright white light, instead of the dingy yellow glow traditional bulbs can cast in a room.
That’s great when we’re doing school work or if I’m having a business meeting on my web cam.
I also like that they don’t hum or get hot! We’ve all burnt our fingers messing with a bulb, right? These install as usual with no fancy equipment or directions required.
Plus they can be recycled at the end of their life, which is a bonus for the planet.
Do we save money with the switch? I like to think so; logically we should. I think we need to replace most if not all of our bulbs to maximize this savings. And I’m ok with that, since we haven’t found any downsides to switching to the LED light bulbs.
