November BlogHer Writing Challenge Day 5

November BlogHer Writing Challenge

Friday, November 7 ~ Writing Prompt:

Where is the one place you would never want to go on vacation that other people seem to love?

The one place that I would not vacation to would be Europe. I honestly have no desire to travel that far from home. Now 30 years ago my answer would have been different.. or maybe not. I don’t know that I would have left my children even 30 years ago to travel that far from them.

Don’t get me wrong, there are more places on my bucket list than I will ever cross off, but at this stage of life, I still have children living at home. Being an older parent does keep some things on hold. We have less than six years between our youngest child and our oldest grandchild!

I would love to take our two remaining girls on a couple of vacations this year. Another bonus of homeschooling is that we can travel when others are in school.

My first trip would be to take them skiing in Colorado. With them both finishing high school next year, this might be the last chance they get to travel together. Skiing is their sport of choice and they have both been raised on the slopes of Perfect North in Indiana.

I would also like to take them to San Diego. Now this city is the number two on my bucket list, but I would love to share this experience with them before they leave for college and start families of their own.

Guess I need to start planning as these trips are not going to just magically appear!
