Nuvo Cabinet Paint Kit
Nuvo Cabinet Paint is the world’s first one day cabinet makeover kit. Could it be so? I was offered the opportunity to try this product and let me tell you that I am now their poster child! I love it. I have a long list of projects that just can’t wait to be completed.
For this project, I order the cabinet makeover kit which includes 2 cans of Nuvo cabinet paint, a small roller handle, 2 small roller covers, an angled paint brush, 2 cute little stir sticks, sanding pad used for non-wood surfaces, an instructional DVD along with detailed written instructions (in English and Spanish).
We chose the Cocoa Couture to test on our cabinet. I believe the cabinet was installed in 1976 when the house was built. It is completed with yummy gold plastic doors!
Oh but look at it now!
First let me tell you how easy this was to apply. I have spent days on projects like this in the past. Removing doors and hardware, cleaning, sanding (and sanding and sanding….) all before spreading one drop of paint! This product said to simply clean with good ole Windex before painting. No sanding needed unless you were painting the end cap which is usually a waxed panel and not of same material as the cabinets and doors.
So the doors were removed and the unit was cleaned with Windex. Hmmm.. it looked so much better with just that little bit of attention. Note to self: Windex does wonders!
The base cabinet was covered with ONE COAT..yes you read that correctly! WOW! I couldn’t believe that I didn’t have to apply at least two coats. This is wonder paint! (The directions do state that two coats are best.)
The doors were plastic and they did require two coats.. Well, they required one coat and a touch up. Because of the slick surface, the paint didn’t stick as well on the decorative edges. That, in hindsight was probably user error..and if I had sanded the “special surface” I would have only applied one coat to the doors as well.
I do like the extra “richness” the second coat added to the doors. I am planning on two coats on my next cabinet in the nursery.
To see just how easy this product is to use, check out their instructional video.
My next project will be the Giani Granite Counter Top Kit. If this is as great a product as the cabinet kit, I will be one happy lady.

I love this idea. In the process of redoing the bathrooms. I would love to try this in my bathroom on the counter~tops, my kitchen could use this also.

That does look lovely! It’s amazing what difference a bit of a paint can make. I’m amazed that it only took one coat.
