pur-Absorb Iron {Review}
For anyone who’s ever taken iron supplements, you know that sometimes, you really feel like you have to weigh the benefits against the side effects. They can be awful (headaches, constipation, stomach pains, etc)!
So when the chance came up to review a liquid and all natural iron supplement, I jumped at it. pur-Absorb Iron comes in easy to open packets that you pour right into the glass (or mouth if you’re out and about). Each packet has 5mg of Iron as ferrous sulfate, which is taken from the Snowdonia mountain range in North Wales, long recognized for its iron-rich waters. Nothing is added to the water to affect its natural composition, which means you don’t have to worry about adverse reactions or complications. Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
The manufacturer recommends taking it on an empty stomach or with a half cup of orange juice. You can also take it with other Vitamin-C rich juices like pineapple, mango or tomato juice. I find taking it right before bedtime is the best so I don’t have to worry about avoiding certain foods (high in calcium) before or after taking the iron.
Some people, like myself, have more trouble than others getting iron into their system. Being a gastric bypass patient and a menstruating female, I have a double whammy you might say. Since this iron is very gentle, and I boost it with Vitamin-C juice, more of it is absorbed in my system than if I were to take a pill, even with a higher dose. Plus I have experienced a lot less side effects using pur-Absorb than traditional treatments.
For me, the fact that I can mask the little bit of “metal” taste there is in the iron with juice AND the packets don’t have to be refrigerated is just icing on the cake. I hope to see improvements in my next visit with the doctor and see if I can stick with pur-Absorb rather than more drastic (and chemical filled) treatments.
You can connect with pur-Absorb on Facebook by going to their page or their own website.
