Rev It up Reading
Have you ever thought about taking a course to increase your reading and comprehension? My older children all took a speed reading course in high school and they believe that it made a huge difference in their grades.
Recently I started working through the online course, Rev It Up Reading. Disclosure: I received this product as part of an advertorial. This course covers the four areas that most of us need improvement on which are Speed, Concentration, Comprehension and Retention.
There are nine modules in this course. Each module will approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. The entire course can be completed in about seven hours based on your reading speed.
Some of the things I liked about the course were that all the needed documents could be downloaded or printed out. I also liked that you had to click to advance each page. This works as a safety in case you get distracted, daydream or in my case walk away from the computer.
The course includes 16 timed exercises – some are One Minute Tests and others are Multi Minute which just means they are a little longer.
Unlike a lot of programs, in Rev It Up Reading, you can email the instructor if you have concerns or problems. They are quick to respond to any question.
You can print out and monitor your progress each level of the course. You can also print a beautiful certificate of completion when you complete all the course levels.
Upon completion on the course, they ask that you take a survey. This will prompt the system to send you an email once a week for 8 weeks focusing on one of the aspects of the program. These emails reinforce the difference skills and techniques learned in the course.
I would recommend this course to anyone that wanted to take their reading comprehension to the next level. Struggling reader to Speed demon, we can all use that extra tip or technique to help us improve in this area.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for from Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

I’ve never really thought about trying to boost my reading comprehension (and speed), it’s always been one of my strong suites, but with the way my memory is going I might have to look into this!

I think it’s a great idea to offer an online course in reading and comprehension. Being one of your children, I did take a speed reading course at the local college one Saturday and I still think it makes a difference all these years later. I’d definitely suggest this software for young teens who struggle to read or don’t find any joy in it.
