Root Beer of the Month Club

I grew up thinking Root Beer only came from the drive in restaurant served in an iced mug. It was a special treat that my granpa did with us on Saturday afternoons. I can't remember ever having root beer as a child except during this special time. Now, you can order it in most restaurants but it isn't the same beverage.

There is something about enjoying a glass of root beer in either a frosty bottle or mug that just elevates the flavor to a higher level.  Root Beer is now available in many flavors and strengths. I prefer the light and smooth taste but my husband likes the bold and deeper flavors.

Recently we were asked to try a variety of flavors from The Root Beer Store. Their claim to fame is that they have the World's Largest Selection of Root Beer!

We received one month of root beer and held taste testing with the crew. And just in case you were wondering, These are soda of course…nothing alcoholic or caffeinated!

Here were our thoughts:

Taste Testing #1 – Old Soaker
This was my husband's favorite – strong and bold. I thought it was good but a little intense for me.

 

Taste Testing #2 – River City
This was my favorite as it is smooth and light. My husband thought it lacked depth.

 

Taste Testing #3 – Moose Whiz
This was a one of the top favorites of everyone. Rich flavor without a strong aftertaste.

 

Taste Testing #4 – Bull Dog
This one seemed more carbonated than others. Dark and rich in flavor.

Taste Testing #5 – Hippo Size
Very bold flavor but easy to drink..it is smooth for being as bold as it is.

 

Taste Testing #6 – Frostie Vanilla
Super smooth with just a hint of vanilla. This reminds me of the treats as a child.

We liked the different flavors and agree that this would be a unique gift idea. The Root Beer Store offers a variety pack in their Root Beer of the Month program. This monthly package includes six different bottles of root beers each month.
