Slow Cooker Applesauce
I will admit that I am not your regular applesauce fan. But my girls love it and asked if it could be made at home. Sure, says the mom that will try to make just about anything….
This is so super simple and has to many different ways to make it…you will not be purchasing ready made applesauce again!
Ingredients:
12 Apples (your choice and feel free to mix them up)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (it changes the color too so you can use 3 sticks for flavor without coloring)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Directions:
1. Peel, core and slice apples (fairly thin so they will cook evenly)
2. Place apples in slow cooker and sprinkle cinnamon over apples
3. Pour in lemon juice and stir well
4. Cook on low for 5-6 hours (apples will start to break down)
5. I used my immersion blender but you could smash with potato smasher or use mixer
6. Store in airtight container for up to a week in fridge (or can for longer storage)

so excited to try this. I have loved anything to do with apples since I have been little. The same is true for my daughters, ages 3 and 4. Anytime I can fit apples into a meal, I will. We love making applesauce but this way is def. new for us. I am so glad I found this as we are going to a pumpkin farm this weekend to pick apples, pumpkins and other fruit and to drink some yummy apple cider. I’ll try this out and let you know how it goes.

This my 3rd try trying to comment!!
Thank you so much for this recipe, it looks so easy. I agree changing it up, and leaving the skins on, the added nutrients would be worth it. If pureed enough later, they’d be no big deal. I bet the apple cinnamon smells wafting through the house are to die for!!

I’m so glad I stumbled upon this recipe. We just got a TON of apples through our food co op and I was wondering what the heck I was going to do with them. This will be perfect.

This recipe is sooo easy to make…I LOVE it! I remember as a child my Mom served us Pink Applesauce & we loved it so much! You could easily tint this pink if you wanted. I am also going to try to make some Apple Butter this way. Thanks for the recipe!

This would be a great way to use up some of my fall apples. It looks so easy, and I love being able to control what goes into my applesauce.

Me too! I love that there is no added sugar in these. It isn’t needed unless you are using tart apples and then just a little honey or splenda works great.

This so much easier than the I make applesauce. Definitely using this recipe the next time I make applesauce.

Oh yeah.. it doesn’t get much easier than this… My next try will be just to core the apples and dice..skins on. We will see how that works…
