On a recent trip to the Sandusky and Marblehead areas of Ohio, we were invited to stay at a place called Taylor’s Resort On The Bay. It is a small, family owned place that has both a hotel and 8 cottages on the premises, along with their own private marina right on Sandusky Bay.

Our many guests have enjoyed Taylor’s Resort for over 40 years! This peaceful two and one-half acre property is located directly on the tranquil waters of Sandusky Bay. Mature shade trees and delightfully landscaped grounds offer a lovely outdoor atmosphere. We have hosted many family get-togethers over the years and we’re always a favorite with fishermen who venture to our area to catch trophy-sized freshwater fish. Our many amenities and waterfront setting will make Taylor’s Resort the perfect getaway for your total vacation enjoyment!

The resort is located near the Marblehead Lighthouse State Park so it was a short drive from our last stop which was great after a long day of traveling. Upon check in, we were greeted by the staff who explained about the pool, the private beach, playground and rec room, plus suggested a few family friendly restaurants and other points of interest to see during our visit.

There are 8 cottages on site, and each one is a two bedroom set up. There are several different bed configurations so be sure to ask if you have a specific need. Each unit has a screened porch which is great for visiting or playing cards, plus the cottages all have a full kitchen with pots, pans, dishes and more. There are also grills outside each cottage if you’d prefer to use them.

The hotel is on the small side; it has 5 rooms with 2 double beds in each one. They also include individual A/C and heating units, plus a TV, microwave and fridge. Plus, you can use the gas grill and picnic tables if you want to cook out.

Located on site is a pool, right by the office which includes a large sundeck as well as chairs for lounging. The rec room is full of games, a Foosball table, as well as a cable TV with a VCR for group gatherings. This would be a great alternative to keep little ones happy if the weather turns bad.

There is also a private beach along with their own marina which is great if you plan on bringing your boat. The dock would also be a good place for some fishing.

I think if you’re looking for a quiet place to get away, or if a group of folks are getting together, Taylor’s Resort would be a nice spot to enjoy the time together. Being able to leave your boat in the water and walk to your cabin with the catch of the day would be great. Each cabin has an outdoor charcoal grill with utensils.

For us, with an all female traveling crew including small children, the local wildlife came and went more frequently than we were comfortable with; the Lake Erie Watersnakes were found in multiple locations in and around the beach, the play ground, and the pool. Not to mention the one that had found it’s way into our cottage. A little more excitement than my crew of females were prepared to work around. LOL!!

The cottage was very clean and while some of the furnishings were dated, they were in good condition. And the A/C got cold enough to hang meat, which was a blessing during the heat wave!
