Are you traveling to Austin anytime soon? With as many things to do in the area, I would suggest spending a little time making plans on how you will see the places that you are interested in touring or visiting. For us, we start online with a search of the area and the attractions near where we are staying. Based on what our family likes to do, here are the best things to do in Austin, Texas while on vacation.

Austin is the capital of the Texas, and at the last official count was listed as the 11th largest city in the United States (based on population) and the 4th largest city in the state of Texas. It is located in the along foothills of Texas Hill Country, which makes the scenery beautiful.
According to the history of the state, pioneers started settling in the early 1800s. In 1839 it was named the state capitol but was called Waterloo. The name was soon changed to Austin in honor of the first secretary of state, Stephen Austin. The area is home to some pretty major corporations like Apple Inc., Cisco, eBay, Google, IBM, Intel, Oracle Corporation, Texas Instruments, 3M, and Whole Foods Market. The people that call Austin home are a varied as the surrounding landscape and they are proud to call themselves Austinites.
The local attractions are just as varied. From fountains to the zoo, and museums to concerts and sporting events; there is something for everyone to enjoy in Austin.
