Psalm 70:4-5 “But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, ‘Let God be exalted!’ Yet I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliver-er; O Lord, do not delay.” (NIV)
Every day is a special day since we are allowed by God to go out into this world and make a difference in the lives of those we touch. Now that is going to happen whether we stay in bed all day or walk around with a sad spirit or truly seek to help out those we touch in this world. Each one of us makes a statement as to who we are and who we follow as we go about the daily business of living our lives. If this is going to happen every day, then we need to make our relationship with our God as the preeminent matter in our lives. Do you? Is your relationship with God through Jesus Christ the top priority of your life? If not, then it should be, because you deprive yourself and others of receiving God’s powerful purpose in you and through you by your selfless and loving example. This can only be made possible if you have spiritual energy and emotional stability that comes directly from your relationship with Jesus Christ living on the inside of you.
Look at John 15:5, where Jesus gives us the lesson of the productive life: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Our ability to be a positive presence in the lives of others starts with ALLOWING God to be the priority of our lives. You ask, “How can this be done?” Our devotional text exposes the deep secret of being used by God for his purposes. When we apply the secret of the spirit filled and purposed life, then we will have access to God’s untold power, wisdom, and energy!
1. We must seek God as the top priority of our lives. When we seek God it provides the surest footing in life, since we have confidence that we are doing what is right and good, and God will always reinforce this knowledge with feelings of joy and gladness in our hearts. O happy day to start with that desire on the in-side of us.
2. We must appreciate the salvation God has given us and praise him for it. Acknowledging God’s presence in your life through praise and thanksgiving is essential to the spirit filled and purposed life. Try praising God for what he is doing in your life, and you will immediately notice a more positive perspective. Don’t get stuck on the negative, selfish, and loveless side of life!
3. We must have a humble mind and dependent spirit that solely seeks its strength and help from God. We honor God by leaning on Him and not on men. Too many of us seek to do it our way, and the end result of doing it under our own power is that the world will grind us down and strip our joy from life. Don’t believe the devil’s lie of your own way, since the only way to the spirit filled and purposed life is God’s way through Jesus Christ. (John 14:6)
4. Finally, we must be bold and confident in God’s ability to help us in any circumstance or difficulty, be-cause we believe absolutely that God will deliver us through anything and all things. Simply look at the life of David and these psalms we have pursued to find the proof and illustration of this reality!
The devil will do all that he can do to diminish your thinking and belittle your plans to accomplish great things. If you accept the devil’s lie, you will allow the world and all that is in it to grind you down and rob you of your joy and power for influence in the lives of others. Don’t allow this to happen, but at every turn look to God’s way and not your own.
TODAY, FATHER, I WILL SEEK YOUR FACE, PRAISE YOUR NAME, LEAN ON YOU, AND BE ABSOLUTELY CONFIDENT THAT YOU WILL TAKE CARE OF ME AND USE ME TO TOUCH OTHERS IN THIS WORLD. AMEN!
