Unlike It App on Facebook
If you are a long timer on Facebook, you may run into a common problem that currently Facebook only allows members to “like” 5,000 pages. Some of you may be laughing, some will be nodding their heads in agreement.
How do you get 5,000 likes? Believe me it’s easy. Enter a couple of giveaways, happily click like on all the suggested list on the right column when reading your newsfeed and you will get there before you know it.
Or – perhaps you have liked something in the past and now would like to change the feed in your newsfeed. You can wait until you see something from the person or company in your feed or you have to go through all your “likes” to find the ones you would like to “unlike”..this can be a long boring task if you have thousands of “liked” pages.
With Unlike It App, you can sort your “liked” pages in order to group them together for easier review and action.
To use the Unlike It App, visit their Facebook page and click on the App Link. Hopefully, all will go well and you will end up at the App Page and see something like this…
If this doesn’t work for you – as the Unlike It App seems to not like all browsers. Go back to your main page (the one with your name at the top – not the home page).
1. Click on snowflake on title line and remove app (just to the right of your name)
2. Then click on app button to install it again but this time – Click Cancel when it starts to load and asks if it can see your information.
3. You will see the Click login with Facebook – do that and accept the question
4. Finally return to the Unlike It App page and click on the Go To App Button
Once you are in the Unlike It App, You will be able to sort your pages by using the drop down menus.
To sort your liked pages:
Click on drop down and select how you want to sort.. then click the circle button on the right end to refresh with selected category
Oldest, Newest, Most likes, Least likes
You can also narrow the list by category such as Artists, Foods, Business, Movies, Television, Personal pages, etc under the Show All Types drop down menu
To unlike a page, hover your mouse over the button that says “like” and click on the “x” it will change to “not liked”. If you change your mind, just click “like” again.
You can also sort by your name or the fan/group pages that you manage.
I like that I can group my pages together and remove them in bulk. Of course, it would be nicer if Facebook allowed us to “like” more than the current limit.
Give it a try and let me know what you think. This is certainly easier than searching out each page just to “unlike” it.

Is there something like this for twitter, I’ve reached my max there too.
Sherryl says
Not that I know of..the best way to get more Twitter to open is to get more followers for yourself.

If you do blog sweeps you can hit that wall several times a month… I would Prefer if the Sweeps Blogging communities lobbied FB to raise the limit to 25-50K when they started it was an excuse that was valid, Now? Not so much, Make it happen FB… I have actually lost several sweeps cause I had to unlike something to enter something else… The people operating the sweeps were not sympathetic at all. problem with this program is it doesnt tell you if you have an active sweep or not.. I’d just end up shooting myself in the foot again so to speak…

I am no where near the limit of my Facebook (I call it Face Plant) “likes,” but it is good to know this app is available now, so I can clean as I go.
I appreciate the time taken to write this comprehensive review, I feel quite comfortable using the app after reading it.

Thank you Sherryl – exactly what I’ve been looking for – for years. Cleaning out the deadweight (LIKES for old expired giveaways, ancient posts/articles, now defunct FB pages…that are such a pain to remove that you now use your “Likes” sparingly – not LIKING things you really love, or a friend’s new post or jewelry creation because you’re so worried about running out and using them up… – just thinking about / remembering the painstaking process makes my spine and skull prickle…
So thank for the VERY useful, helpful and pain-relieving post!

This is one of the best posts I have seen in a while! I get so aggravated when I go to like someone’s page and it tells me I’ve reached the 5,000 limit! lol Thank you for posting this!
