Bacon Cream Cheese Bites

Bacon Cream Cheese Bites

Bacon Cream Cheese Bites

Appetizer or quick grab and go breakfast, these are so simple to whip up that you can have everything ready to go in less than 15 minutes. We like to make these on Sunday morning when we are always pressed for time..as well as just when the kids want a snack!

They also are great for fellowship meals or taking to a sick friend. I really like that you  can can prepare the filling the night before to make prep time even shorter. If preparing the night before, I will combine mixture, divide into (2) two balls and roll back and forth to make a rope about (6) six inches before wrapping in plastic wrap and placing in the refrigerator. In the morning, prepare the dough while the oven is preheating and simple slice rounds off the filling snake and place down the center of the dough. Continue with prep as usual.

Ingredients:

4-6 slices cooked and crumbled bacon
1 can crescent roll dough
1 bar cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon garlic and herb seasoning
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Place crumbled bacon, cream cheese, seasonings, and pepper in a medium bowl – stir until well combined with a fork or on low with beaters
Set aside to allow flavors to blend

Foil cover and lightly spray a baking tray
Open the crescent dough and break in half along tear lines
Unroll each half until two long rectangles, being careful to not break seams. Pinch to close any seams so you have two nice rectangles
Divide the cream cheese mixture in half and spoon or crumble the mixture down the middle of each dough rectangle
Bring up both sides of the dough to cover the cheese mixture. Pinch to close any holes or seams along the log and on the ends. Gently turn logs seam side down on pan and cut into eight (8) equal pieces by cutting each log in half, then each half in half and finally halving the remaining sections. Just make them as even as possible, it isn't rocket science.
Separate each piece and crimp the cut edges with a fork.
Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown on top.
Allow to cool for several minutes as the insides are molten!

Notes:
If you do not have garlic and herb seasoning, just use your favorite spice blend or rub
You can substitute fresh seasonings if you have them (parsley, dill and cilantro are excellent in these)

Try these with Sausage or Chicken for a different flavor profile.

This will be a great recipe to try out on my two younger sisters. Lately they have been into any dish with bacon that they can get their hands on: club sandwiches, topping things with bacon bits, etc. These ingredients make for a unique combination and will make a nice surprise!
