Bible Bands: Rubber Band Jewelry {Review}
We all know the rage with the rubber band jewelry the kids are all excited about, right? Well, here is a wonderful book, Bible Bands: Rubber Band Jewelry by Katreina Eden which combines the colorful bands and patterns with scripture and Bible stories!
Rubber band jewelry is the hottest new craze, and now you can try these new designs! Based on scriptures from the Bible, these projects are easy to follow and fun to wear. Show your faith and inspire others with the uplifting jewelry found in Bible Bands.
Whether you’re just starting to learn how to make these pieces of jewelry or you’re a pro, this book has wonderful patterns for you! Each pattern comes with detailed, visual instructions along with a Bible verse/story to go along with the design.
For example, one of the designs is a heart, to represent John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” This section includes a step by step tutorial of how to construct a bracelet of red and white bands, with the red bands forming the shape of a heart! You also get tips how to make a matching set of earrings as well as a necklace!
I didn’t find the Bible verses to be any particular version or for a particular faith, so I think this is a great book for youth groups or Sunday school classes. This is a great opportunity for VBS (Vacation Bible School) to reach out to the kids, so they can tell their friends and family about their new bracelet or necklace and since it’s made alongside the Bible story, chances are, they will share that as well!
I found the author’s tips to be helpful, in that she suggests other colors or types of bands (like glow in the dark) or how to make your colors stand out in your pattern. Let the child’s imagination take over as they learn about God and the Bible while making one of the hottest “trend” pieces going around right now.
And don’t worry, there are plenty of boys pictured in the book too, so it’s not just for girls!

My little ones would love to make these bands. I like that each has a story to teach as we create them together.
