M&M Cookies in a Jar

M&M Cookies in a Jar

M&M Cookies in a Jar

We love jar gifts because they are so simple to make not to mention something the kids can have a hands on in creating. We create them all year and give out for special treats or just to say thank you to someone.

These M&M Cookies in a Jar can be made with any chocolate candy but using the season colors makes for a different look for each holiday. The taste is not affected at all so go crazy with your colored chocolate candies!

Ingredients:
1 quart canning jar with lid and ring
1⁄4 cup sugar
1 1⁄4 cup M&M-brand chocolate candies
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
3⁄4 cups brown sugar, packed
1⁄4 teaspoon baking powder

Directions:

Whisk together the flour, soda and baking powder in a large bowl
Start layering your jar with the flour mixture, brown sugar then M&Ms, packing firmly between layers
Secure band and ring

Decorate with fabric or create a label with the following directions:

M&M Cookies in a Jar Recipe:

Empty jar of cookie mix into mixing bowl and mix well
Stir in 1 stick of softened butter, 1 beaten egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla
Scoop or spoon drop 1 inch balls onto a foil lined baking pan
Bake for 12-14 minutes until edges are browned at 375 degrees

Cool on cookie sheet for 5-7 minutes, then transfer to wire rack until completely cooled before storing in air tight container

One jar mix will make 24-30 cookies

Note: If making more than one jar gift, I have found that creating them one at a time results in a more consistent cookie.

Disclaimer: When having the little ones help with the layering, NEVER turn your back or things just don't get in the jar as planned!

Great for a gift, great for your pantry. It will give you the inspiration to bake. A much better item to have on hand than the store bought pouches.

Thanks for the recipe of M&M Cookies in a jar! I love making these! One Year this is what I gave all my friends and neighbors for Christmas! I did, however, find out that they prefer the already made cookies given to them because they don’t have to do any work except eat them! Thanks for sharing this with all of us! I really love them! Thanks again, Michele 🙂
