The Chick-fil-A Cole Slaw Rumors are TRUE
“To the Side that was never just a side item, here’s to the good times we’ve shared.”
– Morgan Crego with Chick-fil-A
A new “superfood side” is in and cole slaw is out at Chick-fil-A Restaurants as of January 18, 2016. “It’s a bittersweet day for us because cole slaw has been on the menu for a long, long time,” said David Farmer, Chick-fil-A’s vice president of menu strategy and development, in an interview, here. “But its popularity has waned over the years … and the days of adding things to the menu without taking things away are behind us.”
Launching in place of the cole slaw is the kale-based side salad. This is the first time that a fast-food chain has offered kale nationwide. The new side offers hand-chopped kale and broccolini, tossed in a maple vinaigrette dressing and topped with dried sour cherries and roasted nuts, including walnuts, almonds, and pecans.
Still not ready to give up on the cole slaw? Although you will no longer be able it at the restaurant much longer, you can still enjoy it at home! We are sharing the recipe at the bottom of this article. Woohoo!

Some of us will remember you as the perfect topping to our original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich. Some of us will reflect on the picnics we’ve shared or the combo meals we’ve savored. All in all it was a beautiful 49 years, Cole Slaw.
When you take your final bow January 18th, you will be gone but never forgotten.

I’ve only ever been to Chic-fil-a a handful of times and I don’t think I’ve ever had their cole slaw. That said, I absolutely love all cole slaw and in sad to see it go as an option. It sounds like it was well loved.
Kale? Seriously? Yuck. I love cole slaw (especially with club crackers–lol, that might be just me.) I predict kale will be out very soon & slaw will be back.
This sounds like a great slaw recipe. My husband loves all kinds of cole slaw and I am always trying new recipes.
