The Green Monster Smoothie

The Green Monster Smoothie

The Green Monster Smoothie

The big green monster smoothie was the last on my list of “I can't wait to try” smoothies. Something about it wasn't inviting me to enjoy it as much as the other more colorful drinks. Now that I have tried several recipes for monster smoothies, I have to admit that they ROCK!! Yes, there is a mental issue with drinking a green beverage..but so worth it.

Ingredients:
8 ounces of cold water
2 cups spinach or kale, shredded
1 cup grapes (red or green)
1/2 cup frozen mango chunks (if using fresh add more ice)
1 strip lemon rind or one whole lemon zest (I prefer the zest but either will work)
1/2 avocado
Ice as needed – depending on how thick you want the smoothie
1 egg – optional

Directions:
Place all the items in your blender or smoothie machine and let it rip! It really doesn't get any easier. Enjoy!
Add the egg just before digging in!

We use all those ingredients, except avocado, in our smoothies. We add chia or flax seeds as well.
